- If a member’s rating moves up one number during the season (June 15, 2025–June 13, 2026), the rider finishes the season in his or her original division. A member moved up two ratings competes in the division for the rating below the new one. A member moved down may compete in the new division. This applies to all rating changes made after the annual season-end rating reviews.
- For classes not completed before Finals Night on Saturday, points are applied on the rider standings going into the final round. Saturday night’s results are not used to determine prizes.
- Youth points are applied after the Youth #8 class is complete. Western Heritage year-end division awards are presented at the completion of each WH class, and points applied after each class.
Challenge of the Champions
- The back-tag ceremony banquet is Saturday, June 6, at 7:00 PM.
- The top 5 money-earners in each division this season face off with the other division qualifiers in a Round Robin. The contender in each division with the most cows sorted in the least time at the end of the Round Robin is crowned the division “Champion of Champions” and wins $1,000. Each of the top 5 qualifiers receives a Cinch shirt, a felt back tag and a Challenge of the Champions qualifier award.
- Back tags are numbered 1 through 20; number 1 goes to the overall highest money-earner in the contest.
- The season began after the 2025 World Finals and concludes May 25, 2026.
Lucky Duck bracket sort
- Limited to 32 teams. Teams that were 1 hole out of the money have the first option to enter; the rest are drawn from contestants nominated for good deeds or bad luck.
- Five rounds: 32 teams, then 16, 8, 4 and the final 2. Rounds 4 and 5 run during Finals Night on Saturday.
- A #18 Handicap. Two teams start behind the line. The announcer says “Cattle are ready, cattle number …”, and time starts when the number is called. The team with the higher score when time expires for both advances. If a team gets a no-time, time stops and the other team advances.
- If a re-ride is needed, both teams re-ride immediately.
- A head-to-head race, not an average: winners advance until two teams remain. Prizes for the top 2 teams; 100% payback, 2 places.
